GENOVEVA DE LA PEÑA

I studied Philosophy at the undergraduate and graduate levels at UNAM, specializing in Aesthetics, Philosophy of Culture, and Philosophy of Religion, and metalwork at the Metals Studio at MassArt, Boston, MA. I worked at the Museo Nacional de Antropología and at the Museum and Exhibition Coordination office of INAH. I taught Visual Arts at the Universidad de las Artes de Yucatán and Cultural Development and Management at UNAM. I wrote articles and interviews on contemporary art and translated texts on philosophy, culture, and museums. I kept native bees through workshops on beekeeping, hive repopulation, and meliponary construction in Yucatán, Campeche, and Quintana Roo. I founded Casa de Abejas, which promotes biodiversity, beekeeping, and honey consumption. With a wonderful team, we created KAAB CUATRO Museo Vivo and a knowledge package for planting gardens and building meliponaries. You can visit them in Maní and in Chablekal, Yucatán. I worked at the Federal Secretaría de Cultura, CDMX, directing the Museo del Maíz and the Centro de Cultura Alimentaria. I served as an advisor on sustainable practices, support for Mexican producers, and project management at Red Contramar, CDMX. I live and work in Yucatán.
